PTE Core Overview by Vidya Hut Institute

PTE Core is a comprehensive English assessment designed to evaluate speaking, writing, reading, and listening skills within a single two-hour test. This test is ideal for individuals seeking permanent residency or Canadian citizenship.

The Four parts of the test

  • Part 1 & 2: Speaking & Writing (54–67 minutes)
This segment, lasting approximately 50 minutes, features seven distinct question formats. It extensively tests speaking and writing abilities, simulating everyday English scenarios.

  • Part 3: Reading (29–30 minutes)
In this section, lasting around 30 minutes, examinees face five different question types. Notably, one of these types ('Reading and Writing: Fill in the Blanks') also assesses writing proficiency due to the integrated nature of PTE Core.

  • Part 4: Listening (30–43 minutes)
The listening component spans about 30 minutes and encompasses seven varied question types. Questions are derived from audio or video clips that begin playing automatically. Each clip is played only once, but note-taking is permitted.

  • Test Administration
PTE Core tests are administered in over 400 test centers across 115 countries. Regular test days are available with occasional last-minute openings. Find a convenient date and time that suits your schedule.
